I just think they should invest another 30k to get somebody to do the job properly, but I wont say it out loud as it would not be politically correct. Instead, I will take a deep breath and invite you to do exactly as I would do in your position. Either you invest your time and energy to understand the mentality of the product and prove Mr Malek that you are a competent person, or you delegate somebody else of your team and let him/her take credit. Either way, try to be as positive as possible and do not pollute anybody's peace of mind. There is nothing wrong about criticism, or to disagree about something, but everything is in the point of view and the angle of discussion. Being close minded or unreceptive will get you nowhere but in the corner.
